The Singapore public holidays for 2025 have just been announced… and we see four long weekends! But with a bit of planning, here’s how to bump it up to 10 weekends instead 😉
It’s official: there are four long weekends thanks to the Singapore public holidays in 2025. However, here’s a hack — use seven days of your annual leave and you can actually gain 10 long weekends for an extended vacay!
Plan your leave days wisely

You won’t need to use all your annual leave at once, just plan your vacation wisely around the 2025 public holidays. For instance, take two days of leave before New Year’s Day to enjoy a five-day long weekend.
Or one day of leave on a Friday to extend your holiday to three or more days on several occasions (like Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Haji and National Day etc).
Here’s a breakdown of suggested leaves to take during the different Singapore public holidays in 2025:
Public Holidays | Date | Suggested Leave |
New Year’s Day | 1 January | 30 – 31 December 2024 |
Chinese New Year | 29 – 30 January | 31 January |
Hari Raya Puasa | 31 March* | – |
Good Friday | 18 April | – |
Labour Day | 1 May | 2 May |
Vesak Day | 12 May | – |
Hari Raya Haji | 7 June* | 6 June |
National Day | 9 August | 8 August |
Deepavali | 20 October | – |
Christmas Day | 25 December | 26 December |
*Subject to confirmation.
3-day Long Weekends
There are six possible three-day long weekends in 2025. And good news, some don’t even require you to take leave!
– Hari Raya Puasa (29 – 31 Mar)
– Good Friday (18 – 20 Apr)
– Vesak Day (10 – 12 May)
– Hari Raya Haji (6 – 8 Jun)
– National Day (8 -10 Aug)
– Deepavali (18 – 20 Oct)
Of course, nearby holiday destinations include the usual like Johor Bahru, Batam, and Bintan — perfect for a laidback trip of shopping, cafe-hopping and getting that well-deserved massage.
But even if it’s just Johor, don’t limit yourselves to the JB Sentral area. We previously went on a day trip to Kulai (an hour’s drive from the checkpoint) and visited Putuo Village, one of the most IG-worthy attractions in the area!

4-day Long Weekends
Can you believe it? This beautiful view was taken in Phuket!
A four-day long weekend gives you a little more time to explore slightly further places by hopping on a flight. These would be the Labour Day (1 – 4 May) and Christmas Day (25 – 28 Dec) Singapore public holidays in 2025.
Some of our favourite getaways include Bangkok, Bali, Phuket and even Hainan! Psst, just saying: you don’t have to travel far from Singapore to go island-hopping or get stunning views of the Milky Way.

5-day Long Weekends (or More!)
Now for the big boys: New Year’s Day (28 Dec 2024 – 1 Jan 2025) and Chinese New Year (29 Jan – 2 Feb 2025). Take two days of leave on 30 and 31 Dec 2024, and one day of leave on 31 Jan 2025 to get a 5-day long weekend holiday for both occasions respectively!
Five days give you an ample amount of time to cover the main attractions in a new destination, or even go on a quick road trip. Back in 2022, we managed to cover five different parts of Taiwan in 5D4N 🚗
For nature lovers, there are direct flights from Singapore to Jeju Island and Okinawa now, so you’ll get there in under 6 hours! Jeju is known for many scenic landscapes while Okinawa has one of the bluest waters we’ve ever seen 🌊
And if you still have leaves to spare, we recommend bumping up from a 5 to a 9-day long weekend instead! Then you can tackle countries with cooler climates like Japan or Korea to beat the heat at the start of the year.
Or go on a European adventure to dreamy locations like Portugal, UK, and Switzerland — featuring gorgeous sceneries and quaint towns. Not forgetting longer epic road trips in Australia and New Zealand to reconnect with the great outdoors, be it hiking across mountains or getting up close to wildlife!
