Thailand has officially introduced a new app to speed up immigration clearance for travellers visiting the country — here’s a brief breakdown of what to know!

Good news! Travellers visiting Thailand can now use the Thailand Immigration Management System app (THIM) to submit their arrival details for quicker immigration clearance and easier future re-entry 😁
Currently, international visitors are required to fill out the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) within 3 days of their arrival. And while it’s a huge upgrade from paper forms, it still takes a bit of time to complete the full details — a process you’ll need to repeat each time you enter the country.
But with the THIM app, you’ll just need to register your details once by scanning your passport and submitting it to the immigration bureau. Then, simply update a couple of fields on your next visit — reducing the current process to under 3 minutes.
So, how does it work?
How to use the THIM App before entering Thailand

1) Download the app on Apple Store or Google Play.
2) Choose your preferred language — English, Chinese, Russian and Japanese (with 15 languages targeted by end 2026)
3) Click on Arrival Card > New Trip > Enter travel details like flight number, arrival date, destination, and accommodation
4) Click on Trip Manager > Scan your passport or manually enter the information > Confirm
5) Receive a QR code for entering Thailand
The initial set-up takes as long as filling out a TDAC digital form (around 5 minutes) — but considering that you don’t have to refill certain personal details (e.g passport) the next time you enter Thailand, it’s more convenient and fuss-free!
Admittedly, the app still seems quite basic with very minimal services as of now, but it does the job. Plus, there might also be updates in the future!
Future Updates for Foreign Nationals Staying in Thailand

Besides immigration clearance, there are plans to expand features in the THIM App for foreign nationals staying in Thailand! These include appointment booking, visa extension applications (e-extension), and the electronic issuance of certification documents.
It’s meant to save plenty of time, as you would no longer need to visit immigration offices in person and queue for hours!
Eventually, the app could even help with services such as reporting your address to immigration authorities every 90 days (as required by the law) or obtaining proof of lawful stay to register a Thai SIM card.
There are currently no updates as to when these features will roll out, so be sure to check the app regularly!
