We’re all broke after splurging on Taylor Swift and Coldplay — here are nine budget Singapore accommodations to book with whatever cash you’ve got left.

To those who survived #TheGreatWar and scored tickets to either Taylor Swift/Coldplay concerts (or both), I salute you. It was a tough battle and you emerged victorious.
But of course, you didn’t come out of this unscathed — there’s now a huge Swift or Coldplay-sized hole in your wallet. If you’re flying in for the concert, even more so.

That’s why we’ve prepared a list of budget accommodation in Singapore for our fellow broke Swifties and Coldplayers! These budget hotels and hostels cost less than S$150/night and take less than 35 minutes via public transport to the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

1) KINN Capsule Hotel

The theme of KINN Capsule Hotel is pastel pink and cream — it’s giving Taylor’s Lover Era.

Each capsule is like a mini hotel room — equipped with two power points, two USB charging ports, black-out roller blinds, a folding mirror, folding desk, reading light and hooks to hang your clothes. Pretty luxurious, if you ask me.

This hostel’s facilities are also really nice! The shared bathroom comes with towels, toiletries, a hairdryer and dental kits, plus laundry facilities (washer, dryer, iron) are complimentary. That’s everything you need to get Coldplay or Taylor Swift-ready.

2) The Great Madras

The Great Madras proves that retro never goes out of Style. 🕺 You’ll feel like you’re on a Wes Anderson film set with the hotel’s timeless retro design — pastel colours, neon lights and even an in-house barbershop.

The Deluxe Hostel (from ~S$118/night) is like an upgraded version of hostel living. Instead of cramped bunk beds, guests enjoy a king-sized bed with sliding doors for privacy!

If you’re the type who likes to belt out songs while you’re getting ready, I’d suggest booking a private room (from ~S$150/night). It includes an ensuite bathroom and funky wallpaper — the perfect background for pre-concert Tiktoks and photos!

3) MET A Space Pod

MET A Space Pod looks like it belongs in the music video of Bad Blood, sadly sans Taylor’s iconic squad.
Each pod is furnished with a 24-inch television (not a typo), vanity mirror, reading lights, foldable table, hangers and power sockets. The security features — an individual safe box and card access doors to your pod — are luxuries you’ll almost never see in a hostel.

Double space pods (from ~S$160/night) are also available for couples. This hostel is centrally located in Bugis, within walking distance to Masjid Sultan Mosque and Haji Lane.

4) Atelier

Atelier is a cosy hostel with boho vibes, located in Chinatown. The interior is decorated with bright summery colours, lots of pillows and plants — almost like a hippie lawn party. Currently playing: Hymn For The Weekend.

Each dorm room has a different colour scheme, but they’re all warm and inviting. Breakfast is included, and there’s a shared kitchen and laundry facilities too.

5) Ibis Budget Singapore Pearl

Another affordable hotel near the Singapore Indoor Stadium is Ibis Budget Singapore Pearl. It’s also just 2.2km away from the venue — so if you’d like to avoid the post-concert public transport crowds, there’s the option for a slow 30-minute walk back (while singing Taylor/Coldplay hits with your pals).

The interior decor is nothing to brag about, but rooms are budget-friendly (a Superior Double Room starts from ~S$91/night) and has everything you’ll need for a comfortable stay — a flat-screen television, ensuite bathroom, desk and safety deposit box.

Private rooms (from ~S$108/night) with single or queen beds are also available! Private room guests get soundproof walls (recommended if you’re tone-deaf), a minibar and executive lounge access.

7) Hotel 81 Orchid

Just a 15-minute bus ride from the Singapore Indoor Stadium, Hotel 81 Orchid is a great budget hotel (from ~S$82/night) for those flying in for Taylor Swift or Coldplay in 2024. A Superior Twin room is decently sized, and includes a vanity area with a large mirror.

There are a lot of dining options in the Geylang area like Old Airport Road Food Centre, which is just a 12-minute bus ride away — a possible pre-concert dinner spot.

8) The POD Boutique Capsule Hotel

The POD Boutique Capsule Hotel is for those who like a minimalistic interior with different shades of wood. It’s located along Beach Road — a short walk from the hipster Haji Lane and historic Kampong Gelam! They offer self check-in and check-out, making the whole process really convenient.

Both single and double capsules are available, along with mixed, single-gender or private suite rooms. Each pod has a personal locker with keycard access, two pillows, power socket, reading light, clothes hangers and a privacy shade.

A Queen Pod Suite (from S$152/night) offers more privacy and includes a work desk. Getting ready in the morning beside strangers isn’t for everyone — this budget hotel in Singapore features individual bathrooms in shared washrooms! Each has its own toilet, sink and rain shower.

Tips to Maximise Your Concert Experience in Singapore

1) Arrive in Singapore at least the day before
Some budget airlines are known for flight delays, so I’d recommend arriving at least one day in advance. You wouldn’t want to risk wasting your hard-earned tickets and miss the concert!
2) Study the setlist
Unless you’re a really hardcore fan, there’s a chance you might not be familiar with the entire setlist. Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres setlist includes 25 songs, while Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour covers a whopping 44 hits from her 10 studio albums.
Luckily, there’s still plenty of time to listen to their hits on repeat. Trust me, concerts are a lot more fun when you can sing along!

3) Arrive at least 2 hours early
For concerts like Taylor Swift or Coldplay, if you’re on time, you’re late. Doors open 2 hours before the event starts — and there’s plenty to do in that time!
Like catch the opening acts (Sabrina Carpenter for Taylor Swift), exchange friendship bracelets and check out merch! I saw this Tiktok that suggested coming down on another day to purchase merchandise during the concert — no crowds, no queues. Genius.
4) Getting home post-concert
If you’ve seen the Blackpink post-concert Tiktoks, you’ll know what a nightmare it’ll be getting home. Everyone will be headed to Stadium MRT (the closest station to Singapore Indoor Stadium), packed like sweaty sardines.
Consider walking to Mountbatten or Kallang MRT instead — they’re both just 600m away!
5) Make the most of your trip by seeing the sights
