One massive tournament… three countries… and nine World Cup 2026 host cities that double as amazing travel destinations!

Whether you’re a football fan or not, it’s hard not to get swept up in the spectacle that is the FIFA World Cup! From 11 June to 19 July 2026, the tournament heads to North America, with matches taking place across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
There are 16 host cities in total, and many are bucket list-worthy destinations in their own right!
So instead of viewing them purely as match venues, we rounded up nine host cities that are well worth the trip — offering everything from iconic skylines and cultural landmarks, to standout food scenes and dramatic natural landscapes.
Kick off your North America adventure with EVA Air, which connects you to many World Cup 2026 host destinations via Taipei — read on to learn how to get up to 15% off selected flights from Singapore!
1) Los Angeles, California

Los Angeles is more than the things you see on TV like palm-lined boulevards and Hollywood.
It’s also home to fun experiences, amazing landscapes, and ✨ pizzazz ✨ … which makes it fitting that it’ll host some of the biggest football moments in 2026.

Heal your inner child at Disney California Adventure with thrilling high-speed rides, and immersive Pixar and Marvel-themed lands. Stick around after sunset, when the park lights up and feels like an entirely different world 😉

When you’re ready to slow things down, head east to Joshua Tree National Park.
Wander among otherworldly rock formations, snap photos of its namesake spiky trees, and catch a cotton-candy sunset before the desert sky fills with stars.

For a cosy mountain retreat from the city, Big Bear Lake offers kayaking and scenic hikes in summer, plus skiing and snowboarding in winter.
2) San Francisco, California

San Francisco is a city full of character! Historic landmarks, colourful neighbourhoods, and scenic bay views make it one of California’s most unforgettable stops.

One of SF’s iconic landmarks is Fisherman’s Wharf, where you can stroll along boardwalks to taste fresh seafood and watch sea lions.

Snap a photo of The Painted Ladies, the city’s most iconic row of colourful houses before cruising the streets on a GoCar tour — a GPS-guided storytelling car. Or, see how massive the Golden Gate Bridge truly is, from viewpoints like Battery Spencer.

For a classic San Francisco experience, ride a ferry out to Alcatraz Island and explore the infamous ex-prison at night.

Make sure to dedicate a day or two for Yosemite National Park, ~4 hours from the city. Here, you’ll see towering granite cliffs like El Capitan and Half Dome, powerful spring waterfalls, and other views you won’t normally see in the city.
3) Vancouver, Canada

Vancouver is one of Canada’s most scenic cities, framed by the Pacific Ocean and the Coast Mountains.
It’s also perhaps one of the best 2026 World Cup cities to visit for those who love adventure and the outdoors, because it’s near many different landscapes.

Start at Stanley Park, where you can explore the seawall by bike, while taking in harbour views. Just across the water is the Capilano Suspension Bridge, which offers a thrilling walk high above a forested canyon.

If you’re staying longer, take a drive along the scenic Sea to Sky Highway (aka Highway 99) for sweeping coastal views en route to Whistler.

Whistler is a resort town with many fun things to do: hiking in the summer, skiing in the winter, and even wildlife-watching tours to see grizzly bears, bald eagles, and more!

For local flavours, visit Granville Island Public Market to sample fresh seafood and baked goods. Continue your food trip in the charming Gastown neighbourhood, filled with trendy eateries along cobblestone streets.
4) Mexico City, Mexico

Mexico City has a lively street life, rich history, and a food scene that’s hard to beat. They also have an extremely vibrant football culture, so it’s no wonder it was chosen to be one of the 2026 World Cup host cities.
At the heart of the city is Zócalo, one of the largest public squares in the world, where you’ll also spot the grand Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral.

Channel your inner Indiana Jones and visit the ruins of Templo Mayor, which offers a glimpse into the city’s past as an Aztec capital. Or go on a day trip to Teotihuacan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with towering pyramids.

To experience a more festive part of Mexico City, head to Xochimilco where you can cruise the canals on a brightly-painted trajinera boat — complete with mariachi music.
Then travel to Coyoacán, a vibrant bohemian neighbourhood with lively markets and cafes. It’s the perfect place to try authentic street tacos, tamales, and more Mexican snacks!
5) New York City, New York

New York City feels like stepping into a real-life film set, thanks to the many popular movies and TV shows filmed here like Spider-Man, Friends, and Sex and the City.
Start with a ferry ride to the country’s most enduring symbols, the Statue of Liberty.

Then view Manhattan’s iconic skyline from the 102nd floor of the Empire State Building.

Beyond the iconic sights, much of NYC’s charm lies in its buzzing neighbourhood culture. Spend a relaxing afternoon in Central Park, browse boutique stores in SoHo, then cross the river to DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) for a view of the Manhattan Bridge.

And of course, no trip to The City that Never Sleeps is complete without visiting the giant digital billboards in the neon-lit Times Square, or watching a live show on Broadway.

*Bonus: Make the most of your football getaway with a 5-hour road trip down to Washington, D.C. See historical landmarks like the White House, U.S. Capitol, and Lincoln Memorial!

Along the way, consider spending a few nights in Philadelphia, another host city in the East Coast. Aside from iconic sites like The Liberty Bell and The Rocky Steps, it’s also packed with great eats. Philly cheesesteak, anyone? 🌭
If you’re simply looking to relax, visit the Fishtown neighbourhood for acclaimed restaurants, street art, record stores, and local breweries.
6) Houston, Texas

Houston is the fourth-largest city in the USA, and a can’t-miss for those fascinated by outer space. This is where American astronauts train, and where NASA’s mission control remains active today.

Everything is bigger in Texas, including sporting events! The AT&T Stadium where the FIFA games will be held is a massive spectacle in of itself, and worth a tour for sports fans.
8) Seattle, Washington

Seattle is a laidback city in the USA that sits along the shores of Puget Sound. Perhaps its most recognisable landmark is the Space Needle, where you’ll get sweeping views of downtown and Elliott Bay.

A short walk away is Pike Place Market, famous for vendors tossing salmons in the air.
There are also specialty shops here like the Market Magic Shop, the longest-running magic shop in the Pacific Northwest. This market is also where you can spot the original Starbucks store (since 1971), which has become an icon of Seattle’s coffee culture.

From Seattle, easily take a day trip to one of the nearby national parks: Mount Rainier, Olympic, and North Cascades.
If you only have time for one, then consider Mount Rainier National Park — one of the most iconic landscapes in Washington featuring a glacier-capped volcano (all year round!), and wildflower meadows in the summer.
9) Toronto, Canada
