Staying in a ryokan and visiting Mt Fuji are two of the most quintessential experiences when travelling to Japan.

While most travellers visit Mt Fuji on a day trip from Tokyo, the Fuji area is worth a few days in your Japan itinerary. We explored unique attractions like Fuji-Q Highland, Lake Yamanaka and Arakura Fuji Sengen Jinja Shrine on our last trip there!

But the best part of staying a night (or a few) here are the mountain views, access to private onsens and kaiseki dining. If you’re looking for some inspiration, here are nine ryokans near Mt Fuji that are worth checking out!
FYI, ryokans refer to traditional Jap inns where you sleep on futons (mattresses) laid out on tatami (straw) mats.
*Note: The ryokans are arranged according to the price of their cheapest room (from lowest to highest).
