End off 2020 with a bang this new year’s eve!

Let’s be honest. 2020 sucked. Big time.

With the threat of World War III looming over our heads, protests, political conflicts, economic crashes, and COVID, most would probably think there’s nothing much to celebrate about this year.

But hey. We’ve made it out alive and well, and if that’s not enough, we get to celebrate 2020 ending 🥳. Check these events out for the best ways to put a lid on this shitty year:

1) NYE Fireworks in the Heartlands

Marina Bay - New Year's Eve

COVID might’ve ruined a lot of things this 2020, but the iconic New Year’s Eve fireworks won’t be one of them.

This year’s “socially-distanced” edition will take place at 11 heartland locations all around Singapore instead of the usual Marina Bay.

The heartland sites are Bedok, Bishan, Boon Lay, Geylang, Hougang, Jurong, Nanyang, Tampines, Tiong Bahru, Woodlands, and Yew Tee. However, to discourage large gatherings, vantage sites to view the fireworks will not be released — watch the sky light up from the safety and comfort of your house instead!

2) Shine a Light at Marina Bay

Marina Bay may not have fireworks this year but its sky will definitely be lit, still.

Head down to the bay to catch Shine a Light — a light show featuring 60 beams of light that form the notches of a clock face. Projecting from the Promontory, the display has been illuminating the Marina Bay skyline from 8PM – 10:30PM every night in December.

Make sure to also catch the spectacular three minute animated light sequence that plays every 15 minutes. The last show on New Year’s Eve will begin at 11:45PM, counting down to 2021.

3) Share the Moment at Marina Bay

Fancy a stroll along Marina Bay? These community projects are sure to light up your night.

From 25th to 31st December, artworks by the community will light up the facades of The Fullerton Hotel Singapore, ArtScience Museum and the Merlion. Part of Share the Moment, the projections feature artworks co-created by students from local schools inspired by the kindness and good around us.

From 8PM – 10:30PM (11:45PM on 31st Dec) daily till New Year’s Eve, watch as the displays recount the best of 2020 when our community came together to overcome the year’s struggles.

Every Singaporean Instagrammer’s favourite bar is back again with another edition of its yearly New Year’s Eve celebration. Albeit with less “party” due to social distancing, patrons are in for a good time with free-flow spirits, wines and beers during the early bird session and a slew of locally-curated cocktails later in the night.

Join the party at the urban garden atop Odeon Towers in downtown CBD for a night of drinks, views and guaranteed good vibes.
