Take part in activities on-site and livestream to create a grander and longer firework display, in the one-of-a-kind Boon Lay Countdown 2025 celebration!

There are many places to welcome the new year, and *spoiler alert* they all end the same: with fireworks in the sky.
But on 31 December 2024, Westies can turn their night into more than “just another firework display” when they join the New Year Celebration event at Boon Lay Countdown 2025 — Be the Spark: A New Start.
With countless things to do (pun intended!) leading up to the grand finale, it’s going to be one for the books… literally. And what if I tell you that you will be co-creating the grand firework display when the clock strikes midnight? Read on for what to expect!
Set a record in the Singapore Book of Records

Interactive zones are spread throughout the event — the Spark Zone, the Cultural Zone, and the Friendzone — each with unique activities to try.
At the Spark Zone, you can work hand-in-hand with the community and attempt to set the record for most LED clappers held (the aim is 3,000) during a firework display. If successful, this might just make it into the Singapore Book of Records.
So bring your friends, partner, family, and everyone you know! You may all be able to call yourselves record-holders by the end of the night.
Bond with new and old friends through various activities

New Year countdown celebrations are only as fun as the people you’re with!
Choose to spend the entire night with your loved ones, or if you’re feeling a bit more social, visit the aptly-named Friendzone — where the challenge is to accumulate at least 60 minutes worth of conversations.
Here, everyone is encouraged to make new friends and catch up with old ones. Break the ice by sharing your favourite memories of 2024 and writing them on the reflection wall.

If your friend group is up for something more physical, head to the Cultural Zone for interactive game booths celebrating Boon Lay’s history.
Or, try the sport activities hosted by SportSG. No better way to work on your 2025 fitness goals than breaking a sweat before the New Year, right?
Even children can meet new playmates with the Mass Jenga and bouncy castle at the event!
Lastly, conversations with friends are better over food and drinks — for a quick fix, head to the bazaar or nearby local hawker stalls. Then continue the night by watching dazzling performances together, such as water-drum and light/LED shows leading up to the countdown!
Free bicycle rentals

To promote a car-lite event and ensure attendees can travel to and from Boon Lay safely and conveniently, West Coast GRC and Pioneer SMC have partnered with the bike-sharing service Anywheel to offer free 1-day bicycle passes on 31 December 2024. You might just avoid getting stuck in traffic, too! 😉
Bikes can be collected and returned at designated Anywheel return points.
Keep an eye out on the Boon Lay Facebook page to learn how to redeem your free bicycle pass! Content creator Runner Kao (@runnerkao) will also be sharing an Anywheel code on his account before the event.
Participate in the festivities at home

If you can’t make it in person, don’t worry — you can still join the fun online!
Both Runner Kao and Internet comedienne Syafiqa (@syafiqapls) will be livestreaming the event on their Instagram and TikTok accounts, with many activities for both online and on-ground participants. Viewers will also be helping them finish other challenges during the livestream.

Co-create the grand fireworks display

You read that right: in a unique twist, guests will have a hand in how long the fireworks displays will go on at midnight.
By participating in livestream activities, on-site activities such as Friendzone conversations, and community challenges such as the Singapore Book of Records attempt, you — and all the other attendees — will be able to extend the duration of the finale show.
In other words, more interaction and participation = more fireworks! 🎇
