Each time you cross the borders to Johor Bahru, you’ll probably find yourself in a mall to cool off, grab a bite, or do a little shopping.
But if you’re tired of roaming about malls with no real plan, we’ve got just the place for you.
As someone who has visited many malls in JB, I can honestly say that Paradigm Mall stands out for its diverse range of activities from indoor roller skating to DIY baking and karaoke-ing. In this guide, we’ve lined up nine of them which are cheaper to do than in Singapore (starting from ~S$4)!
1) Belt your favourite songs at Singcube KTV
Unlike the standard corridor rooms you’re probably used to when KTV-ing with your friends, Singcube KTV stands out with its unique, colourful huts.
Each room has a vibrant theme, and the walls are adorned with playful wallpaper featuring quirky stickers to get you pumped up before your singing session!
Their pricing is really affordable too, with room prices starting from RM12 for 30mins (up to 2 pax).
We were initially worried that the space might be a little small for us, but trust us when we say it was enough for us to groove and sing along to our favourite songs. They also have an extensive song selection, ranging from English pop to Mandopop, Disney classics and more!

2) Glide on ice at Blue Ice Skating Rink
Blue Ice Skating Rink at Paradigm Mall is the first and largest ice skating rink in Johor! It wasn’t too crowded when we visited on a weekday… I mean…less people to look at you if you fall down. So we just spent an hour dishing out our “best” skating moves ⛸️
We booked our session through Klook, saving us ~S$2/pax from the original price. They also rent out lockers for free, and skating aids for those who need a little extra confidence on ice.

3) Rock-climb at Camp5 Climbing Gym
Camp5 Climbing Gym Paradigm is the largest climbing gym in Southern Malaysia, covering 2,000sqm with walls towering up to 15m. It provides a variety of climbing options tailored to different skill levels.
If you’re new to climbing, there’s a 1-hour guided rock climbing session and a beginner-friendly basic wall course, to help you ease into the sport. The gym also offers climbing facilities such as bouldering walls, top-rope and lead climbing walls, for climbers of different abilities.
Additionally, there is a cafe onsite that serves light refreshments for those looking to recharge their energy!

4) Roller skate back to the 80s at Roll On
Glide through a rink while basking in a nostalgic vibe at Roll On, a trendy new addition to Paradigm Mall! Opened in July 2024, it offers a 2-hour indoor roller-skating session for just RM35 per person.
The space is decked out in retro American decor, complete with sleek neon lights that instantly immerse you in a vibrant 80s disco scene — ideal for capturing Instagram pictures 😍
I’m sure some of you are thinking, “What if I’ve never roller-skated before?”
I get you, but there’s no need to worry! The rink is super beginner-friendly with a dedicated training area, and handlebars to hold onto.

5) Bake your own pastry at Good Times DIY Baking Studio
If you’re a pastry lover who finds baking at home too much of a hassle, you’ll be delighted by Good Times DIY Baking Studio. They host DIY baking “workshops” where all the ingredients and equipment are fully prepped — you just need to follow the step-by-step instructions on an iPad!
Choose from a delicious array of pastries, like Nutella tarts or chocolate burnt cheesecake. 😋😋
I went for the Classic French Cheese Tart (RM140), and even as a baking novice, I found it pretty straightforward. The staff were also super friendly throughout the process.
Despite my limited baking experience, my cheesecake turned out quite decent in both appearance and taste, at least in my opinion. The session wrapped up with a DIY decoration, where I added toppings like fresh strawberries and icing sugar to the cake.

6) Test your precision at Star Archery
Star Archery is an ideal starting point for beginners who want to try archery without jumping straight into a professional setting. Having never tried archery but always wanting to look like a skilled archer, I was intrigued when I found an indoor archery range in Paradigm Mall!
It only cost RM18 for 20 arrows and RM48 for 52 arrows, which was more than enough practice for an amateur.
Not gonna lie, I initially thought archery would be easy since the arrows felt so light. But it turned out to be quite a workout as my arms were sore from drawing the bowstring.
The session definitely humbled us… no joke.

7) Pet adorable cats at Chucky Cat Cafe

Cat lovers, rejoice! The popular Chucky Cat Cafe has opened its second outlet at Paradigm Mall, with its first outlet at Komtar JBCC.
It’s the perfect spot to spend time with adorable cats and unwind with a drink. As you step inside, you’ll be greeted by a variety of cat breeds including Ragdolls, Maine Coons, British Shorthairs, and more.
The cafe features a menu with beverages ranging from classic teas to frappes, and desserts like Oreo Croffles and ice cream.

Entry passes start from ~RM16 for a 30-minute session, to RM69 for a full-day pass. All options come with a complimentary drink and an additional 10% discount on drinks and desserts.

8) Unlock new levels of fun at Funscape Arcade
For families with arcade-loving kids or those wanting to relive their favourite childhood arcade memories, Funscape at Paradigm Mall is the place to go. Its vibrant neon-lit letters on the entrance make it hard to miss the place.
Inside, you’ll find various classic arcade games like claw machines, basketball hoops, and car racing simulators. You can buy two tokens for 1RM or ~S$0.30, making it affordable to dive into the fun.

9) Dive into adventure at Utopia Jungle World

Bring your kids along to Utopia Jungle World, an indoor children’s theme park with various play zones. These include a balloon house, an adventure pool (filled with balls and slides) and bumper cars, among many others.
On certain months, this place rolls out fun events too, including hands-on DIY workshops, dance performances, face painting, and many more!

Situated right next to Paradigm Mall, Hyatt Place Johor Bahru couldn’t be more convenient — you can literally access the mall’s entrance directly from the hotel lobby!
Rooms are clean and spacious enough to unpack your luggage and still be able to move around freely. In addition, they have stunning views of the city’s skyline.
Facilities-wise, the hotel has essential amenities like a gym, an al fresco seating area ideal for getting work done or conversations with friends, and a swimming pool.

New Paradigm Residence is a budget-friendly option for travellers to JB, conveniently located right above Paradigm Mall!
Rates start from ~S$52/night for an apartment equipped with basic amenities — from a dining area and kitchen to a washing machine, you’re pretty much covered for the staycation.
For sleeping areas, there is a double bed, a single bed and a sofa bed, providing options for everyone.
