Spain is home to incredibly unique architecture, delicious tapas and a vibrant culture. We had the opportunity to live in Barcelona for six weeks as part of Airbnb’s Live Anywhere Program! It was amazing to be based in such a lively city — on the weekends we explored Gaudi museums, visited local gyms and unique secondhand markets.

Like their culture, the Spanish language is a colourful one. Locals are fluent in English, especially in major cities like Barcelona and Madrid. But it will help to know a few Spanish words to get on their good side!
Fun fact: Catalonia is made up of four regions — Barcelona , Girona, Tarragona, and Lleida. Catalonia has its own language, Catalan!
