Skytropolis top down view - Things to Do in Genting Highlands

Growing up, I recall my classmates sharing about their cross-border adventures to Genting Highlands, but I never got to be one of the lucky ones that went to this hip destination for families.

So to finally set foot in Genting for the first time ever, I was pretty excited to experience all that I’d missed out on as a kid. And to my pleasant surprise, turns out it’s not just a destination for families!

Popular Restaurants in Genting

12) The Laughing Fish

The Laughing Fish 2 - Things to Do in Genting Highlands

Opened in December 2018, The Laughing Fish by Harry Ramsden is a classic British pub that serves up mouth-watering portions of freshly-prepared cod and haddock. Their world-famous fish & chips come with double-cooked chips, ensuring they stay crispy, longer, on your plate!

From left: Haddock (Legendary portion) & Cod (Legendary portion)

The main difference between cod and haddock lies in the texture — the cod is flakier while the haddock is chunkier. And for the average palate (like mine), you might not notice unless it’s pointed out, but the cod has a lighter taste compared to haddock.

Cost: From 38RM
Opening Hours: 12PM – 11PM, closes 1AM on Fridays & Saturdays
Location: Level 4, Sky Avenue, High Line Roof Top Market

13) Jom Makan

Jom Makan Food Spread- Things to Do in Genting Highlands

Jom Makan is one of two food courts in the Sky Avenue shopping mall. As the only one that’s halal-certified, you can expect that crowds get crazy from 8AM, especially over the weekend. If you’re not in a hurry, 10AM is a good time to get breakfast after the crowd subsides.

How to Get to Genting

Awana Skyway Gondolas - Things to Do in Genting Highlands
Would you take a cable car all the way from Singapore to Genting? If there was a fully-serviced gondola with reclining seats or sleeper options, sign me up!

An hour-long flight, or a seven-hour journey across the causeway? To most people, the former would seem like the more sensible option.

But for those who aren’t particularly fond of flying, there are comfortable coach options that provide onboard services, meals, fully reclinable seats, personal entertainment and WiFi!

And of course, for service and facilities equivalent to that of a full-service flight, the cost is comparable as well. But hey, what’s a holiday without splurging a little? 🙂
