While most travellers visit Mt Fuji on a day trip from Tokyo, the Fuji area is worth a few days in your Japan itinerary. We explored unique attractions like Fuji-Q Highland, Lake Yamanaka and Arakura Fuji Sengen Jinja Shrine on our last trip there!
But the best part of staying a night (or a few) here are the mountain views, access to private onsens and kaiseki dining. If you’re looking for some inspiration, here are nine ryokans near Mt Fuji that are worth checking out!
FYI, ryokans refer to traditional Jap inns where you sleep on futons (mattresses) laid out on tatami (straw) mats.

1) Bself Fuji Villa

Get literally spirited away from the city to this traditional ryokan hidden in the mountains ⛰️ Yasuragino Bettei Shikitei has a range of gorgeous Japanese villas to choose from, surrounded by nature!

Kawaguchiko Onsen Koraku Onyado Fujiginkei truly lives up to its name as a hot spring resort — with private open-air baths and indoor public baths, which can accommodate up to 30 people!

Other amenities include a game room, a restaurant with kaiseki dining (we’re talking sashimi and steak 🤤), and a 24-hour front desk. This Mt Fuji stay also offers a train station pick-up service for free, but do let them know the pick-up timing in advance.
As for nearby attractions, it’s close to landmarks like Kawaguchiko Music Forest Museum, Lake Kawaguchi Ohashi Bridge and Ubuyagasaki (a spot under Ohashi Bridge with a clear view of Mt Fuji)!

Fun fact: Fujisan Onsen Bessho SASA is actually located on the fourth and fifth floors of Hotel Kaneyamaen!
What’s unique about it though, is that all rooms come with their own open-air bath, against a sweet view of Mt Fuji.

Fun Things to Do Around Mt Fuji
