Australia is a longtime favourite destination of ours. With gorgeous nature spots, unique wildlife, a buzzing food culture, and a refreshingly slow pace of life, it’s little wonder why we Singaporeans can’t wait to run back.

Although it’s unknown when we can head Down Under again, Down Under decided to bring its epic experiences to us — absolutely free! And while we stay safely at home, of course.

Live From Aus (16 – 17 May)

Australia Rock During Sunset - Live from Aus

Live From Aus is a live programme of exciting virtual travel experiences all over Australia. This includes cooking classes in Byron Bay, penguin encounters on Phillip Island, and scenic nature tours to the Great Barrier Reef and more. Basically, it covers everything you’d want to enjoy on holiday!

Live From Aus will run for a whole weekend. It’ll kick off from 5AM on 16 May (Singapore time), and continue throughout the day. You can catch the entire event on Facebook.

The full schedule is also absolutely chokkas (Aussie slang for packed). There’s something new every hour, so it’s rather hard to be bored! You’ll find all the details here, but here are some of the highlights:

Workout with Chris Hemsworth’s trainers, Luke Zocchi and Dan Churchill (16 May, 6AM SGT)

Live from Byron Bay and New York City, Chris Hemsworth’s team has put together a short workout that’ll whip you into shape. Although Thor himself won’t be involved in the training (sadly), you’ll still get a little taste of the exercises that buffed him up for the Marvel films. 💪

Penguin Parade Bedtime Stories with Wippa, from Phillip Island (17 May, 4PM SGT)

Families and kids will love this one! Phillip Island is home to the world’s largest colony of penguins. You’ll get front-row seats to watch the Penguin Parade, a.k.a these cute guys waddle around. The segment also features playful stories narrated by Michael “Wippa” Wipfli, a popular Aussie radio presenter.

For all the Sunday brunchers out there, Live From Aus features famous chefs from Three Blue Ducks, an award-winning restaurant. They’ll teach you how to recreate drool-worthy brunch dishes from the comfort of your kitchen.

Underwater Reef Tour with Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef (16 May, 2PM SGT)

The Great Barrier Reef is one of the world’s most breathtaking diving spots. It’s full of colourful fish, coral reefs, turtles, and loads of other sea creatures. This virtual diving tour is a neat way to see Australia’s underwater beauty — especially for those who can’t dive, or hate getting wet!

Located in the Northern Territory, Uluru is one of Australia’s most famous landmarks. You’ll get to soak up a wondrous sunset over Uluru (in real-time!) and the Australian outback, along with a lovely soundtrack.
