1) Kampong Glam
Traditionally the district of Singaporean Malays, Kampong Glam‘s highlight is the massive Sultan Mosque. The gold dome bases are made of a unique material — donated glass bottles!
Fun fact: You can no longer find segregated single-raced communities in Singapore. Government housing is now allocated based on a proportional mix of ethnicities, so you’ll never find a full block occupied by one ethnic group.

Even from afar, the Asian Civilisations Museum makes quite an impression. This majestic building displays art from all over Asia, including artefacts from Singapore’s ancestral cultures.
